Interior Air Barriers

A useful addition to some building envelope assemblies

Interior air barriers can assist in meeting exceptional building tightness goals like the PassivHaus standard.

An interior air barrier is typically installed along with a suite of other high end tape and air sealing products to create an air tight system.

We prefer to use these products on a day to day basis only where non-continuous interior finishes like v-match or shiplap will be installed.  Sometimes we install an air barrier to a flat ceiling where we will not be able to access the flat attic to install loose fill cellulose after drywall.  It is not needed in most applications where drywall will be installed.

Casco Bay Insulation prefers Siga products sold locally at Performance Building Supply.
